Our server, Cody, was outstanding - attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. He helped us navigate the menu and made excellent recommendations. The food was outstanding - I had the steak, which was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The sides were equally impressive. One thing to note is that they do charge an extra 5 for splitting a meal, which was a minor surprise. However, the generous portion size made it well worth the additional fee. What really stood out, however, was the service. Cody checked in on us frequently, refilling drinks and ensuring everything was to our liking. Overall, I would highly recommend River Oak Chophouse to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in Madison. The combination of great food, excellent service, and cozy atmosphere makes it a must-visit. “ Trudy and I went there for a date night dinner, and it was phenomenal! When we entered, we were greeted with wonderful staff and breathtaking decor, and most of all, candlelight on the table. Once seated, we ordered our drinks and an appetizer that was perfect. For meals, Trudy had the salmon, and I had the ribeye steak that was out of this world. Trudy had a bite of my steak and truly loved it. The desserts were very tasty. We are looking forward to our next visit. ”
“ Our server Jake was exceptional. Attentive, friendly and we ask for him every time we visit. The food was, as always, top notch. Tonight I did the ala carte Strip and it may have been the best thing yet. The seafood dip was also a treat and I am glad they got rid of the old style rolls and switched to sliced up baguettes. Delicious and I love the salted butter. This place continues to impress and remains our favorite place in Madison! Update: Came in again this past Friday and just like before the service from Jake was impeccable and we also spent some time at the bar trying out some of their tasty offerings. Try the Chai Martini (I asked to add chocolate to mine). Amazing! Great food, attentive service and amazing drinks at the bar. We really love it here and will be back again shortly. ”

We had Saturday brunch which was REALLY delicious: I had Avocado Toast with Salmon and my wife had Hereford beef tips with mushrooms and pasta, both with decent-sized portions, unlike some other fine-dining places. ”

“ We had reservations for 730 on Saturday night. As we entered we were quickly greeted and escorted to a very cozy table in the rear. Quiet, warm, and welcoming. Paige introduced herself as our server that night and she was exceptional. Her communication skills and knowledge of the menu were well received. We started with her suggestions of the shrimp cocktail and the PEI muscles. Both were delicious. Next was a wedge salad and a chop house salad with the housemaid gorgonzola dressing. Exceptional! We both ordered the 16 oz ribeye, medium with shareable sides of mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were truly delicious. We did joke with Paige about the actual size of the steaks. We are certain that they are much larger than 16 oz and I kidded with her that I would bring a fish weighing scale next time to weigh my steak LOL. Finished the meal with a banana foster's cheesecake and a delicious cup of coffee. When in Madison we can highly recommend this very special place. ”
